HTH is a non-profit site dedicated to raising the profile of local politics in Hartlepool. It is
now in its sixth year and in that time has become one of the most popular websites in
Hartlepool. The site currently receives over 12,000 visitors a month - and it’s still growing.
There are currently five people directly involved with the web site with a group of fifteen
people who regularly contribute content with a similar number making occasional
contributions
Hartlepool is a very lucky place geographically lying as it does on the coast but still close
to some of the best countryside in England. It’s already a good place to live but we believe
it could be a great place to live if it was better looked after and better run.
Hartlepool Council Tax Payers currently pay the 3rd
highest Council Tax in England out of 326 local
authorities; they also pay the 2nd highest Council
Tax of any of the Unitary Authorities. Hartlepool
Borough Council is also the highest charging local
authority in the North East.
Some people think that we are simply paying too
much council tax while others think that we’re not
getting value for money. Either way, things can be
done in a better, more efficient way and in a way
that benefits all of the town and all of its people.
HTH supports Independent Councillors and those Councillors who have shown
themselves able to think Independently without party constraints. In fact, we believe that
party politics is irrelevant in local Government. No Councillors have any direct connection
to HTH.
If you have something to say and would like to submit an article to HTH then send it to the
address below. We are not only interested in local politics and your article can be on any
local subject. We are also happy to accept articles from people of any political persuasion
and, perhaps unusually, are prepared to give space even to those with which we disagree.
Good ideas and interesting debate can come from any direction.
