I think there is something else to consider here. Is it actually right that HBC used our resources to hold a labour rally. I have no problem with labour being supported if they offer a range of choices to suit everyone and also allow other parties to be involved in the development.

I think it is only right that a balance is sought through a rally with support offered from the council and with no council staff leading it.

I am sure this is a breach of the code of conduct. I suggest people ask for full details. I did ask at a neighbourhood forum but there was silence and no answers given?

I think this example shows more than ever that HBC is not being run democratically, professionally and to their own code of conduct? With a shortage of resources, you would think that they would consider how it looks?

Mike I wasn't proposing to just turn up with some friends, I was trying to explain the theory behind not needing permission for a static protest to meet on Victory Square and why public liability insurance shouldn't be needed.

Please read this, it should clear a few things up

Yes,but as I mentioned in an earlier post, if we turn up with insufficient numbers it would be counterproductive so timing and promoting it is crucial.

I have spoken to the chairman of Save Our Hospital and he is all for the idea, just waiting to speak to other members.

I watched the 'debate' in the commons tonight - sad I know. There were about 12 MPs in the chamber all huddled together on one side bar one - the Government Minister sat on the other side on his tod.

The impression that I got was that Wynyard is a dead duck. Even if the Trust goes down the PFI route (opposed by the Labour Party's chief financila backers UNISON), the Minister said there was no guarantee that it would be approved as PFI costs the taxpayer on average 20% more in the long run.

He also said that other hospitals that were given the go ahead fell below fire safety standards, the hospitals they were replacing were considerably older than Hartlepool Hospital and North Tees and had a backlog of repairs and maintenance in the 10s of millions.

In contrast, Hartlepool Hospital and North Tees Hospital are more modern in comparison and together have a backlog of repairs of only £3m.

Basically, he was saying that there was nothing wrong with the old hospitals. Wrighty looked totally out of his depth.

Was this Simon Burns, the Minister for Health?

If so I'm glad! I send him a lengthy letter explaining the situation in full, including the financial benefits of keeping our current hospitals and asked him to look into the matter and also to more or less ignore the pleas from Wright as he is no longer speaking for the people of Hartlepool. (In a nutshell)

I know he received the letter as he had his secretary call me back with his direct email address and to confirm that he would look into it. I was told I should expect to hear back within 20 or 21 days, so I'll keep you updated.

Having just watched the parliamentary debate on the HTH main page can someone explain to me why our own M.P. Iain Wright seems to be so content to play lapdog to Stockton M.P., Alex Cunningham who, incidentally, has only just been elected for the first time. This willingness to play second fiddle to other towns within Teesside is perhaps the main reason why it is our own hospital that is the one under threat in the first place.

Wll done HTH again for making this video available for people to see.

Yes, the usual excellent write ups on the home page is really useful.

The evidence to show that this is not just about a false allegation regarding the rally but it was a disgraceful PR stunt. It did not even consider that the services have already been taken from Hartlepool Hospital prematurely and how they intend to get them back as soon as possible.

Instead they follow a pipe dream when our country is in massive debt.

Are people asking the question 'Show us where the money for these huge projects was as surely these complaints about withdrawing the super hospital means that money is available elsewhere?' After all, action to re-allocate services away from Hartlepool should have not been taken if the money was not in the bag when we are suffering a severe recession that impacts on us like a world war aftermath.

As testing times states, the north east and particularly Hartlepool is easy pickings because no one in power has really fought the people's corner for too long. Sadly local media will allow local people to get the impression that it is the new coalition that is to blame and not the last government.

I would not even say it is government or politics, it is selfish people who have responded to things with an aim for best possible personal gain rather than diplomatically and transparently doing things that are right for the area on a very local basis.

I have just been listening to BBC Tees and heard a Stockton labour MP discussing the £8 million already spent on the hospital. I must say I could agree with his passion regarding plans to encourage health based businesses to be developed around the Wynyard site. However he stated that the money was definitely there so it was justified to plan for the three years spending such huge sums of money.

My concern is that the issue of losing resources from the Hartlepool Hospital was not considered. This has left Hartlepool in a dire position worse than before. I wondered if anyone could explain where this huge sum of money was coming from? Where has it gone?

The statements make it look like the coalition are simply ignorant and neglectful when I believe it may be that the coalition are simply being realistic and responsible given the recession we are suffering. What is the real position?

I don't get the impression walking aroung Hartlepool Hospital that I'm in a delapidated building. It's certainly on a par with James Cook where I've worked in the past. Hartlepool's Maternity Wing was only completed in 1992.

The cascade of new, medical related industry that is said will spring up around Wynyard Hospital is sheer fantasy - if it were true then why didn't that happen at James Cook? Absolute nonsense.

And then there's the construction jobs supposedly lost with the cancellation. Construction jobs would have been a welcome bi-product of building a new hospital but they are hardly a reason to build it in the first place.

Somebody, somewhere was going to make a lot of money out of this new hospital and now that it has been scarpped they're ****** - that's all.

As for the Cleveland County aka Tees Valley City idea.

When we were in Cleveland County we had two sets of Councillors; Hartlepool Councillors, just like now, and another set of Cleveland Councillors - now there's efficiency for you. The whole exercise was used as an excuse to pump up executive pay and all of the money went to Middlesbrough and Stockton.

The same mentality still exists, North Tees PCT is slowly absorbing Hartlepool PCT, North Tees Hospital's preference will kill off Hartlepool Hospital, the new Green Bank will go to Darlington (the tees valley town with the lowest unemployment) and Hartlepool won't get a look in (the 'Tees Valley' town with the highest unemployment), the Tees Metro? - well they had to invent a ficticious second phase for Hartlepool to even get a mention.

So no thanks. Been there, done that and the T-Shirt was a hand-me-down from Stockton.

This is why I am annoyed that labour in this town are chasing Wynyard when they should be looking at saving the hospital we have here! Loads of money has been spent with construction jobs being developed so surely they should be trying to offer two options rather than one. At least then it would be seen as impartial given open rather than restricted and dogmatic dialogue.

Not only has Wynyard gone, now it seems the Primary Care Trust is going as well.
