No wonder they say Hartlepool is the biggest village in England.

  • If people have to travel more than 2 miles to work they don't want to know
  • They vote Labour because they always have done.
  • . . . and they want to watch football at Victoria Park because they always have.
Too many people in this town aspire to be no more than they are and want the town to be no more than it is.

Explains everything.

With the comments flowing, I speak as I find and even without the thought of owning the ground last year, I was looking into income generation for the ground and also promotion of local talent in sport and other areas.

This was embraced and had I not had to deal with fools who want to feather their own nests, I might have got a lot further on this issue.

I will definitely be looking into this again though as the current debate shows the need for something to be done so that the whole of Hartlepool can benefit but also the club itself in relation to additional activities to supplement football matches.

These pools supporters aren't especially bright are they - not surprised they all voted for Drummond.

so the centrally located park area at thornton street is so full to overflowing that another is needed.
oh sorry i didnt realise that at the end of the day it was just another reason to knock drummond
to get back to the vic we have seen what building a white elephant of a stadium did to darlington fc oh sorry i forgot you would be quite happy for this to happen as then drummond wouldnt get any more publicity through the football club

ie not posts by the same posters but how many individual posters

The mixed messages of giving property away as cheap as possible then buying new properties a few weeks later is something that the local government ombudsman should consider.

Clearly you have an odd view about what a Park actually is but it isn't a neglected 100m x 10m gathering place for Fosters drinkers that cost £120,000 to build and took 18 months to become a Grot Spot.

As for the comparison made between a football crowd and the numbers of visitors to a web site, I don't even begin to understand the relevance. However, for the record, this site is on target to have had 24,500 visitors during the month of July. It will take Victoria Park 14 weeks after the start of the football season to achieve the same number of visitors through its gates.

That's nothing! Our little town of Hartlepool will be receiving just under that number of visitors every 2 hours during the Tall ships extravaganza! (Working on 4 days is 96 hours and so that's 10,416 visitors an hour required to reach the 1,000,000 target).

is that repeat visitors or new visitors.
the relevance is you like quoting 3400 as the number of visitors to the vic on a fortnightly basis but they dont visit 5/6 times a day so the figure of 24,500 is misleading.
how many people visit this forum not how many hits does the forum have not rocket science the question

I still don't get the relevance of the comparison BUT, like most web sites, we count 'unique' visitors which means that if you visit the site 10 times in 24 hours you will be counted as one visitor. This is pretty much the standard way of doing it.

Are the 3400 Vic visitors the same 3400 every fortnight or are they completely new visitors?
See where I am going here?

When HTH started in September, 2005 it had just over 3,000 visitors in its first month; now its 24,500 - an eight-fold increase. If Pools can do the same in the next five years I'll buy the bloody ground myself.

IOR have done a good job at Pools, but in my humble opinion its time to sell up!!!
Someone needs to buy the club and give it a new lease of life.
Give the ground back to the labourite council, Give Drummond his monkey suit back and move to Brenda Rd.
Moving away from the town centre will relieve traffic congestion on a saturday afternoon. Brenda Rd is easily accessed from all parts of the town and from out of town.
It doesn't need to be another Darlington fiasco though, 10000 seats is quite sufficient for a little club like Pools. They'll never be a Championship side!!! Period!!!

Also, get rid of Turner, He's as much use as Pools manager as Drummond is as Mayor!!!

I've heard rumours that the takeover will be launched this week and Alan Shearer will be installed as manager in time for Rochdale on the 7th . . . . I think that is a bit far fetched but hey ho, bring it on if it's true.
Shearer would be a crackin gaffer for Pools but we all know that this is only chinese whispers.

If the ground is re-located then it could be much better utilised by the community. Pools could have there own training ground there instead of having to go out of town and schools and youth teams could also access training facilities.

So lets hope that the rumours are founded and Pools are about to be sold. It can only be a change for the better for Pools, for Hartlepool and for local football and all the people involved in it.
