In response to a Freedom of Information request Hartlepool Borough Council has published a top level itemised list of spending. However, if the devil is in the detail, then there is still far too little detail provided to enable people to judge if the money has been well spent or not. For example, staffing costs appear across several different items making it difficult to conclude just how much of the estimated £3.7m spent has gone on salaries. The need for a full, drilled down and itemised list of spending for public viewing remains as strong as ever.
